I have just bought a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

If I need to re-install the operating system do I need a wired keyboard?

I don't know for sure but I'd keep it around just in case!

I'm sure you are right - last time I tried to install Vista without a wired keyboard on a PC nothing would work !!!!!!!!!!!

You should almost certainly be fine, it would be pretty stupid of developers to make it so you need wired accessories in the case of a re-install, but like JB said keep it around just incase.

It really depends, if your Mac has it built-in it usually works for Safe Mode and reinstalls. But if it is a card or adapter, nope.

As Sherman says built in is okay. Use a D Link USB Dongle which runs well, but you can guess what happens when one undertakes an erase and install? Out comes the old plug in.

Yes. You have to use a hardwired keyboard to boot from the CD/DVD or into target disc mode or anything that requires holding down a key while booting. The BT driver doesn't load until later in the boot sequence.

Thats not completely true Baggs.

I just setup a new iMac with just a wireless keyboard and mouse... and it most certainly works. Once you get into the OS setup, you can pair your mouse and keyboard with no issues.

You wouldnt think it works, but it does just fine.

As we speak I just tried, held down option during booting and it came up with my other boot options.

If you double click your mouse at the screen that shows your disks to boot... it will also work.

Again, this might only be for the built in BT models...

Thanks for all the replies.

I guess I will be keeping the wired one just in case.
