    Therefore to clarify:

hi guys im having a spot of bother with my camera

the camera in question is a sony dcr-sr52e - the software that comes with the cam is windows only, which isnt a problem when using my pc. but recently i have purchased a macbook pro, seeing as the camera's software doesnt work on the mac i have no idea as to what codecs this video uses, im able to play it on the mac but you see scanlines and no audio is heard.

i know the video is mpeg2 and i have the mpeg 2 codec for quicktime, but im guessing seeing as sony are a shower of ***** they probably have their own mystical magical codec

i have included a an example file, if anyone fancies giving it a go or has any suggestions please let me know

thanks

here are the mentioned examples

Seems your camera is USB only. If you iMovie 08 that might handle the content. Otherwise download and try VoltaicHD.

I'm apologize for leading you to VoltaicHD. I downloaded your .rar file and found that it wa just a container (zip) of three mpg files. I had thought you were dealing with m2ts files which come from AVCHD cameras.

The next thing to try is likely MPEG Streamclip. I used it to convert your "somersault front.mpg" file. Then I imported that into iMovie HD and was able to see and hear it. Finally I did an export from iMHD and it worked fine.

I suggest you use the Apple Intermediate Codec when converting the file and use uncompressed sound.
