New user, what would you use?

Just got my macbook 2.4ghz and really like it, I was just wondering what software people would advise or find good? I have just brought aperture 2 which looks good and I am quite into the photo editing. I also enjoy a bit of gameing but not sure if the macbook would do it? Been into civilisation and civ city things like that.

Anything anyone has used and enjoyed let me know!!

You could get PhotoShop, but adobe has dropped the ball.. with intel based machines cs2 bridge doesn't work - thier response: wait till cs3 to come out.. Ppl bought Cs3 and were happy for a while till Leopard came out.. apparently thier response to that is switch back to tiger, it isn't thier fault ppl chose to upgrade to leopard!

instead there is the gimp http://www.gimp.org which is reportedly as good. It seems to be well kept and many tutorials have been written for it (it's open source like firefox so many also have created plugins for it. Best of all it's free, so easy to try... I'm sorry I haven't tried it yet as I've stuck to PSP on my PC which I find much easier to cope with and figure out lol

I'm still not into the gaming, but I know my father plays that type on his Mac. I'm not sure what he's playing these days... but you might find some good answers and suggestions just lurking in the gaming forum part...
