How to watch Windows media in your browser?

On some sites when i try to watch a video in the browser it wont let me and links me to:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/alldownloads.aspx

I was just wondering how you can get to view these videos without windows media player.

Install Flip4Mac

This should fix your problems.

And while you're at it get perian http://perian.org/

you can download both perian and Flip4Mac - they wont clash

ok i downloaded both of those...how do i get the video to play? do i have to open the programs or anything??

both flip4mac and perian now have a space in your system preferences, go in there and tweak the settings etc. it should just play for you.

in Flip4Mac - make sure you have checked "use WMV browser plug in" . it should all work fine from then on.

I find these work invisibly. Whenever you encounter a wmv, for example, the video just plays back. That being said, there are still a number of content providers that encode their wmv with an unsupported codec. In those cases, I find it won't play, no matter what.
I've customized my F4M prefs to show a background color. That way I can easily tell when it's activating to allow me to see any particular video. It's just an indicator to let me know when F4M is intervening to allow me to see the content.
