• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

So I'm kind of bored with iMovie, not to mention when I import from my camera it separates them into segments which I do not want it to do. So I was wondering what is a good step up from iMovie that has more features and is some what cost efficient?

Final Cut Express? I'm using it right now and it has much better control than iMovie.

Final Cut Express 4 isn't too expensive ($199) and brings you nearer to the pro level applications. It is a slightly degraded Final Cut Pro which is only available in a suite now. The next editor up might be Adobe Premier for $799.

Check the requirements for the items you are interested in as these applications can require better systems.

Final cut express 4 is good but has limitations that Final Cut express HD 3 did not.I used 4 on a ibook G4 and it worked flawless.I also have Final Cut Studio 2 which if you are going to be doing some heavy work i suggest.
iMovie does get a wee bit boring with the same standard trasitions.I personally downgraded once purchasing leopard to iMovie 6 HD which is 3rd party application friendly more over the iMovie 08.
Research and ask questions is my theory my friend!Good luck all the same

Thanks for all the info. When I get some dough I'll seriously look into it.
