How do you wipe your internet history completely from the computer's hard drive? Does it completely go when you delete it using the history thing on safari?

As an aside, how do you see how much of the hard drive is used up/left?

Merci!

Don't know about your first question
but for your second:

just click on the finder icon in your dock, and at the bottom of the finder window it will show you how much space you have left

I suspect that just like deleting any file, it's not truly gone until that address block is written over again. If you're trying to leave no tracks, use the "Private Browsing" feature in Safari. Safari > Private Browsing.

You can go into the preferences and delete all of the cookies and erase the history through the history tab and I would suspect that gets rid of a lot of it.

To permanently delete it im not exactly sure.

To REALLY clean up Safari you can delete all the cookies and the history by deleting the files Safari stores them in.

For Tiger and Leopard, the Safari cookies are at ~/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist. You can just delete this and you are done with the cookies.

For Tiger, Safari's history is at ~/Library/Safari/History.plist. Delete this file and the history is gone.

For Leopard, Safari's history is at ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db. Delete this file and the history is gone.

The easiest way to do the above is to create an Automator action or Terminal.app script that does it for you and then just run the action/script manually once a day or so.
