How do you use textedit to make voices in garageband?

I know that this can be done and I'm sure it's already in the forum somewhere but I can't find it. Can anyone explain how to do this please? Thanks!

To be clear... you want to input text into Textedit and have the computer "read" it back using one of OS X's built-in voices? If so... here's one solution:

Set Garageband to record from external mic, then use a single 1/4" to 1/4" jack cable to bridge from the speaker out to the mic in.
