Hello. I recently started using garage band and was wondering if it supports plugins, like native instruments i.e. Battery 3, Kontakt 2 etc. When I double click on a track and click on details and go to generator, I see the plugins show up, but it's not letting me open them up in garage band. Could anyone help me with this matter? Thank you so much.

Garageband (as well as Logic) uses plug-ins called "Audio Units". they work the same way as VST's and other plug-ins. just search on the web for "Audio Units" or "AUs" and you should be able to find some really decent freeware ones. i have a bunch.

heres a good place to start:

i have all of these and they work fine.

theres also a free soft synth AU called "Crystal". its totally awesome and completely customizeable. reminds me of AbSynth.

Also, there are a bunch of Free/Shareware AUs on apple's site.
