i wasn't sure where to exactly put this thread but anyway:

i created a disk image is Disk Utility (sparse image, 40 MB, and 128-bit encryption). i created a password during the image creation process when it asked me. when i open my encrypted disk image that is supposed to be password protected, it just opens without any confirmation from me. does anyone know how to fix this?

you must have selected "add this to my keychain"

open up keychain access in utilities, find the password for that disk image and delete it

Maybe that's what I did. Only tried creating an encrypted image a couple of times and it just opened right up without ever asking for a password either. Never did figure out how to force it to ask me for the password. Have to try it again.

just make sure you dont add it to your keychain next time (its an easily missed check-box)
