Hey Guys,

I currently own two sony camcorders - the fantastic HDR-FX1 and its little brother the HDR-HC1. However we have outgrown the HC1 as the quality between it and the FX1 is really noticeable when editing a film together, so I have been looking for a new video camera to replace the HC1.

I am interested in the DM-XM2 from Canon, as it looks comparable to the FX1 in terms of functions and capabilities, the only thing I have noted is that it doesnt record in HD, which the HC1 does do, however I've never been blown away by the HC1s capabilities in low level light (we film a lot of weddings and of an evening low level light is expected).

Is the XM2 really comparable to the FX1 in terms of video quality and functions? Or is it more of a side-step? Any advice or thoughts are greaty appreciated.

No, if your going to be editing footage from the 2 cams together, the difference will be way more noticeable than with the HC1
