Hi,
I am a brand new MacBook user and just stumbled across this forum, which I am really stoked about.

So my question could be ridiculously easy to solve, but I'm at a loss.
I downloaded the trial version of Adobe Illustrator and when I try to install it, it tells me that it can't install until I shut down Safari.
Well...I don't think I have Safari running. I closed all my open browsers, and also tried restarting the computer and it still gives me the same message.

Thanks to anyone who can help me. I obviously have a lot of learning to do.

make sure you quit safari, on the bar that has the icon, click on it and choose quit,, or open a safari window, then in the top menu bar go to FILE / Quit, when you X out of windows in OSX it doesnt actually "quit" them like windows does, it makes you take an extra step, or i beleive if you ctrl+d and click quit it quits it?

Is the light on underneath Safari in the dock?
Closing browser windows does not quit the program.
