Interesting.. I don't think I'll ever buy a white car. I'm more into the dark colors. I passed this link along to a friend of mine that's way into cars... see what he says. :)

I figured silver was the most popular since I see it everywhere. I personally like dark colors, like black or dark shades or blue or red.

Silver and red tend to fade, that is why I perfer black. Nothing looks better than a newly waxed black car. :)

As for resale value, I thought it was white and silver that were the better colors.

Around here white cars are not popular at all. My grandmother had a 96 chrysler sebring that was white, and when she died we brought it home with us, and it will never look the same.

My mother had a PINK Chevy Astro, she loved the color, and after that was totaled (a year ago today), she bought a Purple Dodge Neon.
My father is still clutching to his black cavalier, and my sister and her red shadow.
My grandmother just bought a brand new PT Cruiser in Metallic Blue, and my aunt a new Cobalt in Red, they are very shiny!

Where i live, the SMARTEST (not the prettiest) color for a car would be brown for sure. The mud would blend in ;)

Whats the most popular car, anyone know?

I knew silver has been the most popular color for some time now however I always thought silver cars look like they need a paint job. Old hot rods on the other hand can get away with silver or bare metal. I also agree nothing looks better than a polished high gloss black car, but black is also the hardest to keep clean. Funny thing, you can always tell which owner's of black vehicles do not hand wash their cars. The stupid one's have car wash swirl marks in their paint. As for cars painted white, the best thing about that color is that it doesn't get as dirty as quickly as black (or most other colors).

Bottom line, for me it really depends on the car. I've seen cars in my favorite colors that made me want to puke.

...could never understand wood paneling.

Wood paneling became an unfortunate trend with a lot of chrysler vehicles.

Originally it was because after World War II and the Great Depression it was considerably cheaper to wood panel a car than have a fiberglass, metal, or steel frame. Though metal proved more durable in the long run. Those Chrysler atrocities that roamed the streets like the wood panel PT Cruiser didn't have a true wood frame, it was a fake wood trim that was laid over the metal sheeting...ech.

I have 2 white cars, 1 black&white, 1 gold and 1 black.

i've had a number of different color cars, currently have white.

white is a very nice color on most cars, plus it hides dirt, scratches, and dents better than other colors.

black (really most dark colors) is the worst for dirt, it shows imperfections so clearly, you really need to keep them clean. plus they really do get considerably hotter in the summer.
