Hi folks

I have erase and installed Leopard fresh on my MBP and not installed iLife 06 yet.... As I been thinking whether to go and purchase iLife 08 or not... Thing is i use iPhoto mostly but I do plan to buy PhotoShop Elements 6 when it comes out and prob use the Organiser that comes with that rather than iPhoto. As when I use to use a external editor with iPhoto 06 it never got saved in the iPhoto album

iLife is not part of the OS... My MBP came with tigar and iLife 06... I purchase leopard the other day as wanted to upgrade to it. But I did a erase and install of leapord as it always the best way. And to get iLife i will have to get my recovery cd out and install iLife 06.. But dont know whether to leave it off and get iLife 08 or Elements since i only use iPhoto most time

What do yo use for editing then? As I believe if you use a external editor it a pain as you have to import it back into iphoto if it not the same file name and it a long way round which iphoto pick them all up auto

iLife 08 is great if for nothing more than making free iPhone ringtones out of your existing iTunes library. After making 80 ringtones you will have paid for it :)

iTunes Ringtones...

You don't need iLife 08 to get ringtones. iTunes upgrades are available to anyone having iTunes. I have iLife 06 and my iTunes has the Ringtones folder.

there are some good advances in iPhoto 08. However, you will have to tweak your existing photobase to make it work properly. i think that iLife 06 is fine. as for the other programs in iLife 08, the only other one i have used was iMovie and its ease of use went down the drain from the 06 version. i would take a hard look at the changes in 08 compared to 06, you may find that 06 is better than 08.

Rookies, look at the editing features of iPhoto 08 to see if if fits your needs. If not, then given you do not use the other applications, look at Elements or some of the new image editing applications that have come out this year.

Imovie 08 doesnt have any video effects at all so if your interested in video then get imovie 06 aswell.

For other editing possibilities see this thread, which by the way I searched for in this forum using the word 'editing'.

You don't need iLife 08 to get ringtones. iTunes upgrades are available to anyone having iTunes. I have iLife 06 and my iTunes has the Ringtones folder.

iLife 08 Garageband 4 lets you create FREE ringtones from ANY song you have, whether or not you bought it from iTunes, instead of paying Apple 99 cents each thru iTunes that iTunes ringtone maker thing. Thats what I was talking about. iLife 06 had Garageband 3 which did not have this feature.

I did an erase and install and was surprised to see I lost i-life. I went back to Tiger, installed Leopard in the archive and install mode and it kept my i-life 6 intact. I did not want to buy i-life 08 just for i-photo!
I-life 6 also remains if you just do the upgrade.
