1.7m vs Macbook Pro 2.2 or 2.4 Dual

Ok, I have been running a windows laptop with a 1.7m processor, but is it slow. I am just wondering what the dual is vs the m processor. is a 2.2 dual the same as a 4.4 single core mobile intel?

I am debating between the 2.2 and the 2.4 processor.

Yes Pentium 4, or worse even 3, with 1.7GHz processors are s l o w.

Duals are not the same as twice a single, just gives extra grunt when handling heavy applications. Lowendmac did a report some time ago and estimated a DP at about 40-60% improvement on single, dependent on the application etc.

Go with the fastest machine you can afford. If that is the 2.4DP go with it.
