Moving files from Macbook to a new MacBook pro

I just got a new MBP and I want to move my iTunes and iPhoto library from my old mac to my new mac. How can I do this?

Connect the two via an ethernet cable and just drag stuff from one to the other. If you have 802.11n on both machines, then use one to create a wireless network and have the other connect to it. Then drag and drop as with ethernet.

There's also the trusty flash drive/external hard drive

I connected them both and how do I drag and drop?

couldnt you just turn on blue tooth and transfer the files that way. ive played around with it and it was pretty quick.

I got it hooked up through ethernet but it says it will take over 120 hours to move my 32 gig itunes folder..is that correct?

120 hours over ethernet is absurd. Took me mere minutes to transfer 50GB.

I'm thinking you're not actually transferring through ethernet but rather Wi-Fi. First turn off Airport on both machines then hook up the ethernet cable. Wait a few seconds for the devices to setup IP addresses, and then try transferring.
