I got a PowerBook G3 at a yard sale - no disks
Got it to boot using OS 9.0 from my aunts pc, but I get error message
"Can't use this version on my pc" - can't reinstall anything - but I do get the smiling face and boots to the CD (but not the disk)

It says family number M3553 on bottom on laptop.

Help

What type of OS 9 installation CD is it? What is the exact error message you receive when you try to install it?

I think that's your problem. I believe you're going to need an actual full OS 9 Installation CD.
