I bought a MBP yesterday and while it is nice, I can't really justify it for my needs. I am going to pick up an iMac instead. I know they charge a 10% restocking fee (it kills me) but is that off of the total with tax or is it off of the price before tax?

You know. If there is something wrong with your macbook you don't have to pay a restocking fee... Just a thought.

As to a credit card purchase...You COULD reverse the transaction. Personally I never buy a Mac from a apple store. I don't buy anything from anyplace with a restocking fee. I buy most of my Macs from Frys so that I can return it without any hassle if there is a problem.

On that note, if you are returning it toward the purchase of a IMac they may waive the restocking fee.
