Converting from DivX

I have a DivX video and would like to convert it to... well, really anything else! Preferably for free, but either way I need to get this done.

I also want to put it on my iPod, so if there's any way to get it there, that'd be amazing.

I've Googled my brains out and I haven't found any freeware to help me out.

Thanks for any suggestions!
