• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

iMovie effects question

When making videos on iMovie, is there a way to overlap two playing scenes at the same time? I know there's an 'overlap' transition but that only works to go to scene to the next. Is there a way I can add another movie clip bar underneath my main one and work on two at once? I'm sorry if that doesn't make sense to anyone. It's hard describing effects sometimes.

Unfortunately iMovie does not support video layering natively. You can buy plugins for it, www.geethree.com. They have some that will allow this. Haven't tried them, so not sure how good they are. The next step up is Final Cut Express which does allow video layering. It's around $200 though.

Best,

Brian
