• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

SO i'd love any help I can get.

I've got a few 2-4 minute sections of some dvd's i'm trying to rip to put on youtube. I'm pretty new at all this and I can't figure out for the life of me how to rip only small sections? Online searching has only given me Windows programs - Yech!

Is it possible? What programs are nevessary?

Any help would be awesome!!

I'm assuming these are legal DVDs with no encryption. If that's the case, get a program called Handbrake. Use that to rip the chapter you wish to use into h.264 format. Then use iMovie to take out the clips you want from that chapter. If you have iMovie 08, then you can use the export to Youtube function from within the program.
