    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. Hi,

What is a simple, low cost way for me to convert my old VHS home movies to DVD using my macbook. I suppose I need something to convert the analogue VHS signal to digital and then get it into my macbook.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

You can use a analog to DV capture box (many are available from Pinnacle) and then plug in your camera/vcr to the box and then capture the video on you MBP. After that, you can edit them (if you want) and then burn them to DVD.

Check http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Home/ for some info and prices. This should be a pretty cheap option.

f you have a camcorder, see if you have the pass-thru option. If so, you can use it. Some camcorder allow you to use them as a bridge between the vcr and the computer.

I am using a Plextor ConvertX here with EyeTV software. It's not cheap at all but really gets the job done. The end result is better than it ever was with my PC and my ATI All In Wonder Radeon 9200.
