Seems like when I click on anything on my iMac screen, the DASHBOARD
screen pops up. I can click around and hit the "CONTROL" key and this
helps to Toggle it so I can access what I wanted. Is there some way to
disable the DASHBOARD so it will not operate until I want it to?

Thanks for any help,

Your probably clicking the mouse while click on the wheel. That is a whole separate button. Your mouse is divided into 4 buttons. You can squeeze the left and right side together, right click, left click, and middle click. Go to System Preffs>Keyboard & Mouse>Mouse tab. You can select what all of the clicks do.

Edit: This is for the new mighty mouse.

Well dashboard should only come up when you click the icon or if you press the designated hotkey for it on your keyboard. One thing you might do is going into system preferences and make sure you don't have the hot key or mouse short cut set to something like left click or spacebar, or shift. To do this go to System Preferences and then click "Espose' and Spaces" and then make sure you are in the Expose' tab. Then at the bottom make sure your hot key for it isn't set to something silly.

Here is how you disable Dashboard.

First, open up the teminal, it can befound in Applications/Utilities

Then type this into the terminal (or copy and paste) - this disables dashboard.
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES

Then Kill the dock by typing, Killall Dock

After the dock has been reset, hit F12 or the dashboard button, it wont open :), You've just disabled dashboard. If you're on an older mac laptop you'll have to press and hold the FN key and press F12. Since F12 is the eject button you have to hold the function key. Either way, Dashboard wont open.

If you would like to enable the Dashboard simply open the terminal and type.
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO

Then restart the dock by typing, Killall Dock

That's it.
