Hi

I have just exchanged my damaged HD in my PowerBook.

Now I try to safe some of the survived data, via a USB cartridge. I can see the HD from the disk tool in Leopard, but it doesn’t show any data. Can any recommend some good software for this stunt?

Regards Ebbe

I am a little confused here. You stated you exchanged a damaged HD. Did you replace the system disk in your PowerBook with a new one? Is taht what you are talking about or are you trying to retrieve the data from the damage disk?

Yes I replaced the HD

Yes I replaced the damaged HD with a new one, and the PowerBook now runs well with Leopard.
And I now want to save some of the data from the old HD via a USB kit, and some software for that purpose. And as I write in the first comment, I can se the HD with the Leopard toolkit, but it didn’t succeed with the repair process.

OSX's utilities aren't designed for data recovery, if you can't repair the disk then your best bet is to send the disk to a specialist recovery firm, and back up more often! ;)

Also you will find that using a data recovery specialist will be very expensive.
