I just purchased a mac pro and it has 5 GBs of ram, but when I run Windows Vista Ultimate that I installed on bootcamp it only shows that it running 1.99GBs of ram. When I run Leopard it shows up as 5. Any ideas?

Yeah its a 32 bit Vista Ultimate. I have no clue why it is doing it. The cards are installed as 2 512 sticks and 2 2GB sticks.

Here's what I think is happening:
> It recognises the first 2GB DIMM
> It recognises the second 2GB DIMM but if it adds it in, it would become 4GB which is not supported (remember 4GB is actually 4094MB or something).
> refuses to go further than that so the rest of the 512MB DIMMs are also ignored.

Anyway dude, even if you do manage some tricks, it will still give you just 1 more GB. Better upgrade to 64bit Windows, or ditch it altogether...

even if this were still happening, upon recognizing the 2nd 2GB, it would see it as 4gB, and let him access 3GB in windows.

have you tried moving the ram around in your slots? id say switch em around.

EX: if the 512s are in slot0/1 and 2gb in 2/3, make the 2gb in 0/1, and 512 in 2/3
i bet this changes things
