Partitioning HD on iMac?

iMac = 20-inch, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 320GB HD, Leopard. iPod Nano = 4GB, Silver
Hi:)

Can partitioning be done on the 320GB hardrive that comes with the iMac?

I would use one half of the HD as my main and the other half of HD as storage.

Yes. You have to reformat the drive to partition it though. This means you will have to back up your system first, then reformat/partition and then move the system back.

why dont you use "diskutil resizeVolume" option from terminal. No need of formatting the mac drive

Good idea, but not really a prime option for those unfamiliar with Unix and the terminal.

leopards disk util cant do live partition on the internal drive?
