If i'm not actually capturing the video, but moving it from camera hdd through usb (no firewire option), and then converting, and dragging and dropping, can I set FCE3.5.1 to let me edit this as anamorphic or widescreen?

I would prefer not to have the bars on the project when I export it.

(not sure about fce but this applies to final cut so you might want to give it a try)

right click on your sequence before you start and go to sequence settings and there is a box for anamorphic, click that.

Or try clicking the easy setup in the menu it will set it up for you as well.
