Sharing files on mac

I am trying to set up my macbook so that i can share the files on it over the network to access them from my PC.

I have turned on file sharing ans checked the SMB option. I can see my macbook on my windows computer but when i click on it it asks me for a password. I put in the username and password for my main user on my mac (this is also listed in the sharing window on mac) but windows always resists my log in details.

I need help with this too

make sure you have personal fie sharing enabled aside from a windows sharing

With Leopard there is no personal sharing or windows sharing, there is only "file sharing". I read that leopard makes it "easier" by including both these features in to one option.
