Reprograming Keys

Hi all,

Recent switcher here...

Is there any way to reprogram keys? For example, on my USB keyboard, Home and End don't move the cursor to the beginning or ending of a line (except in Adium). And Shift+End/Shift+Home to highlight a line.

I tried looking in the Keyboard and Mouse section of System Preferences, but couldn't find anything that would help me (or I don't know the correct verbage to make it work)...

I do a lot of typing in my job, and this one particular thing is making the transition to Mac agonizing... Any ideas you guys might have would be greatly appreciated.

PS: My delete key also doesn't work if I hold it down... Only works when I constantly press it. Any way to change that too?

If its a Microsoft keyboard you can change everything when you install their Intelliport drivers

I cannot find anything that will easily help you, but someone else does share your frustration and has found alternative shortcuts that OS X uses

Check out KeyFinder, a freebie that does that. Van

Command-right = go to end of line
Command-left = take a guess
Option-right (or left) skips words

Hold down shift with any of the above to select the tween.

Thanks everybody for the Mac tips and program ideas.

I'll start trying them out to see what works best for me.
