Hi. I've only had my MBP for a few weeks and have a lot of questions.

I have a Brother Printer software installer that always starts up on boot. It creates an icon on my top right menu pane. When i click the program's Preferences tab and disable START PROGRAM AT STARTUP option, my changes aren't saved it always loads up at startup. I want to stop it from starting up.

I've also checked the Accounts/Login Options menu and its not on that list.

What am i missing?

Check these paths for the culprit:

Macintosh HD ~> Library ~> Startup Items
Macintosh HD ~> System ~> Library ~> Startup Items

or go to system preferences under  menu

go to accounts and select your account. There is a tab called login items

you can disable start-up programs from there

Check these paths for the culprit:

Macintosh HD ~> Library ~> Startup Items
Macintosh HD ~> System ~> Library ~> Startup Items

Also look in /Library/LaunchAgents and /Library/LaunchDaemons.

Only other place I can think of is:

MacintoshHD ~> Library ~> Printers
YourUserAccount ~> Library ~> Printers

I checked again in my:

MacHD ~> System ~> Library ~> Startup Items and there are so many folders there I wouldn't have the foggiest about why or what they do .... or why your same folder is empty?

Spawn,

Sorry, I didnt mean it was empty-just didnt have the file that resembled my problem.

Before I saw your last post I finally gave up and went to the Genius guys and he had to get help too. He finally found it hidden in the LIBRARY/PREFERENCES/
folder. Apparently, it made a subfolder there. After deleting it, the software finally was removed.

What i dont understand is when i searched for this folder it didnt show up.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Now to figure out more idiosyncrasies of this mac.
