Password problem!

I've had my iBook for a while, but haven't installed anything on it in a very long time. I was attempting to install some software last night, and when asked to enter my password....I drew a blank.

I made an appointment with my local apple store, but they won't be able to see me for a few days. Do any of you know what I can do to retrieve my password?

You can reset your password by booting from the install disk.

Insert the disk, then restart while holding "C".

Ah yes, that's what I've heard. And that leads me to another problem. My mac was having a lot of poblems earlier in the year and I brought it in to an apple store, they said the only way to fix it was to erase everything and reinstall. When they reinstalled, they upgraded me from 10.3 to 10.4 and did not give me any of the new discs.

Now it all makes sense.
