• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

problem is i cant seem to get Toast or DVDSP to burn them as 352x240, everything just wants 720x480, causing me to go way over the 4.7gb limit of SL DVDRs

Yeah. The MPEG2 codec wants at least 640x480, preferably 720x480. MPEG 1 can be 320x240. You could burn a Video CD, but that won't necessarily play in all DVD players, and it will look awful.

Thats odd, i swear once upon a time i burned as 320x240..well i know that video CD...but i also know thats only VHS quality, so upscaling what i have now isnt gonna look much different..

i guess ill tinker more. How do those shrink programs work that compress a DL down to a SL? what do they change?
