Hi there,

I know how to uncompress a file (i.e. a .zip file) as OS X seems to do it for me when I click on a compressed file but how do I compress a file (to say .zip or .rar) so I can send my large documents (i.e. word docs, spreadsheets, images) to my mac and PC friends over the net?

To mae it a .zip, all you have to do is highlight the group of files you want to archive, right click on them, and select Create Archive of "whatever the files are called". I haven't found a free .rar compressor and archiver yet, so i can't help with that.

Thanks for that. If it turns a file into a .zip that will do nicely.
