NeoOffice is OK. If your going to make word documents which have lots of images, tables, graphs etc. then it may not display properly on MS Office.

However iWork seems to have a much better compatibility with MS Office.

Neo Office is a fine and nice looking app and it's free.
Would suggest downloading it and taking it for a spin. Only you will know whether it will accomplish what you need.

Yh Neooffice is nice, but like I said it does have some compatibility issues, so try it out for a few days. You could also try out the free trial of iWork...

Name me a program that doesn't have some kind of "compatability" problems. NeoOffice is a very good program that will do what probably 95% of people need or want to do and it is free, it is open source and is constantly being improved. Only real way you can see if it does what you want is to try it, simple matter to delete it if it doesn't.

Instead of asking us the question, why don't you go ahead and download NeoOffice? Then go and use the trials for iWork and Office 2004 (they should be pre-installed on your Mac, if not, then you can download them for free from their respective sites).

Once you've tried out all three, pick the one that works best for you.

If you go down the Neo road, be sure to download and apply the latest Patch before you run the app ... (it's there on the webpage pretty much next to the main NeoOffice download link)

Also if you choose neooffice, disable fonts that you'll never use (using font book) such as windings and other fonts in different languages.

This speeded up neooffice a lot

I have used all three:

1. NeoOffice, I didn't really like it, and it had poor compatibility with Office.
2. iWork is my favourite, but my school uses MS Office :(
3. Office 04 is good, a little bit slow but good.

If I was not in school I would use iWork. £55 is is not expensive at all.
