I assume that an iMac doesn't come with much in the way of documentation, so I'd like to get a book to help me switch.

I ahve seen the Missing Manual recommended and that's written for 10.4 - should I jsut get that today and then I'll be a bit ready for my iMac? Or is there a better one/more uptodate one?

thanks
Dave

It wouldn't make much sense to buy a book on 10.4 when 10.5 is literally three days away, and if you'll be buying your Mac after the launch of Leopard, the computer will come pre-installed.

The best thing you can do is to try and read things like Switch 101 and Mac 101 and wait until a Missing Manual is released for Leopard.

How long after 10.3 and 10.4 were their respective missing manuals released?

Looking at the Tiger Missing Manual, it says that it was first printed in July 2005. Tiger was released in April 2005. So for that edition, it was just three months.

I just looked up the Panther edition, and that was released in December 2003, which followed an October 2003 Panther release.

So I would guess that a Leopard Missing Manual should become available in the next two to three months.

Not sure why it says October 31 for the release date when the book hasn't even been published yet. Looking at the American Amazon site, the date is December 15. I'm more inclined to believe the latter.
