Hi,

I sorted out my install problem and now have a VM install of XP.

The problem is when the windows machine boots, it asks for an administrator password. The problem is I havent set one - it didnt ask me for one! It does not like my user password from the mac.

So I cant log onto the virtual machine because of this.

Does anyone know what the password is likely to be?

Thanks in advance.

how is it possible that you didnt set any password for the administrator during installation? You can not skip that.

I guess you need to re-create the VM.... sorry for the bad news

Actually, it has (optional) after the first box to write in your password - so I didnt.

But I'm trying again with a password this time!

Isn't that password blank if you didn't specify one?

If you didn't specify a password, then you should just be able to click OK without typing in a password. You should then be allowed to log on. You can then tell windows to not prompt you for the password when you boot up.

Any chance someone in your house set a password and you didn't know? Did you do the initial install of the OS?

I have installed XP a few times, sometimes with a password and sometimes without. If I never set a password, like I have now, I just have to click on an icon to log in, both through bootcamp and Fusion.

If you can't figure it out soon, best to just end the frustration and reinstall.
