Why is it some apps - compared to their Windows counterparts lack any sort of Graphical Interface?

For example, I just purchased Quicken 2007 for the Mac because I liked it better than MS Money on Windows. The Windows version was really nice, simple and easy to read. However, the Mac version seems like it was designed in the 80's just as windows 3.1 is coming on the scene. Fonts are hard to read and it's lacking quite a bit in the "eye candy" department.

Not even eye candy per-say but just lacking in appearance period. What is going on? This is the second app I have used that lacks in this department. Entourage is another app that lacks pretty much any Graphical Interface worth talking about.

Is this an Apple problem or is this because developers just don't care? I would really love to know. :|

It's up to the developer to take advantages of the GUI bells and Whistles provided by the maker of the OS. If they don't bother to, this is what you end up. The folks who make Quicken could care less about the Mac community as a whole, that much shows from the "quality" of their products for the Mac.

Is there a better alternative for banking and keeping track of finances? I am all willing to try it out. This version of quicken is a joke.

My wife actually uses Apples Numbers spreadsheet App from iWork 08. There is apparently some built in template that it comes with for this sort of thing that she just loves.

I found iBank. Looks promising. Either that or I just use parallels and use Quicken for Windows.

Am not using a finance app myself.
The consensus of all the threads I've read in the last year though agree, Quicken for the Mac bites big time.
Most are using MS Money or iBank.
