Anyone care to consider how much money Apple made off all of the people using Macs in that room combine?

Sales or profit?

It looks like about 16 rows back, and about 20 people per row, so that's 320 machines, and looks like about 80% of them are MacBook Pros (which is surprising) and the rest MacBooks. So lets say $2100 per machine, on average since the MacBooks seem to be the black ones on the whole.

320*2100 = $672,000

I bet at least half those kids got AppleCare

160*$260 = $42,000 ish

So just under $3/4 Million... probably...

Judging by the many lecture halls I've seen, there ought to be an entire section off to the right that isn't in the picture. So there are quite a few more laptops that have to be taken into consideration.

Well some of those could be PowerBooks and iBooks. It wasn't that long ago they made them.

What it is, is awesome! With a generation that young picking Mac that tells a lot about the amount of people using Macs down the road.

Mac users among college kids is sky-rocketing. I'm really not surprised. It's a bandwagon effect.

Does anybody else think that these kids are probably required to buy a mac? Either that or they get such huge discounts that there is no reason not too. Probably the former though.

There is no way the entire class just happen to buy a mac.

Not only are they Apple-based, you are required to have the newest Apple laptop available. A couple of my friends are journalism majors at Mizzou, and both of them bought really tricked out new PowerBooks our senior year of high school... Needless to say they both have to put out the $$$ for brand new MacBooks or Pro's once they are accepted to the J. School. N00bs...

Takes care of your question ShannonB.

Compared to tuition, a new MBP is ~1/4 of a semester. And that is at a state university.

Compared to out-of-state costs to attend Mizzou, it's not a big deal...

And for me, a MacBook Pro would probably be more than a semester of tuition :p My tuition is really cheap!
