Hello,

Now that I have my Macbook Pro, I want to protect it from scratches and other damages.

Does anyone have suggestion for good reliable products that do the following:

1. Protect the outside body of the laptop from scratches
2. protect the screen
3 protect the keyboard

Thanks!

be very careful ;) or you could get one of the many cases they have for mbp. there has to be around 1000 post on this forum just on cases and protection. just a simple search would do you wonders.

At the risk of sounding snotty or condescending, the absolute best thing a person could use for protecting their computer while they are using it is.....
...common sense.

Don't let it sit teetering on a shelf or table ledge...
Don't keep drinks nearby that can spill onto it...
Don't eat over top of it...
Don't drop it...
Don't leave it unattended...

Do keep it in a bag when transporting it...
Do wash your hands if they are dirty before you use it...
Do keep it out of the reach of children...
Do add it to your homeowner's/renter's insurance...

Not snotty at all - your suggestions make sense.

Speaking of, is the MBP body scratch proof - well at least to a reasonable extent?

While we're talking about protection...It's a laptop, protect your data and personal information as well...

-Set it up so you need a password when booting the machine up.
-Keep any sensitive files (tax records, documents, ect) in an encrypted disk image that you need a password to access (use disk utility to make this).

You can also encrypt your Home folder if you want to.

I have heard rumours about the keys scratching the screen when you close the laptop. So my plan was to keep the packing you get it in when you first recieve it theres a material inbetween the screen and keyboard.

I've closed my Macbook and MBP hundreds of times and haven't had a problem.

check the policy just incase, but you will usually find that the insurance companies will only pay out for items up to a certain value, and anything over that they will usually ignore, unless you have told them about it, and I'm fairly that even the cheapest MBP is over that value, or maybe offer a super premium policy that covers absolutely everything, but cost you an arm and a leg each year :)
