backup of apple software

I'm new to the mac experience, got my first Powerbook last week. Anyhow, I like to make backups of all my system software, in case of damage,loss, etc.
My question is this...can I make backups of my CD's on my PC running Nero?

I'd imagine so, if you just do the straight disk copy to another cd.
