I have a Black Macbook 2.0GHz C2D, and a G4 Mini 1.42HGz PPC. I have a new HD on the way for the Macbook and i'm wondering if the stock 120GB drive will work in my Mini (which now has the stock 80GB drive).

The Mini is listed as an "Ultra ATA" drive, and the MB is a SATA, as far as I know. Any help? I'm clueless when it comes to some of these things.

No it won't. They use different interfaces, so while the drive would fit, you wouldn't be able to plug it in.

The G4 Mini is a 2.5" IDE Laptop drive. ATA=IDE. The Macbook uses a 2.5" SATA. SATA=Serial ATA. A SATA drive will not work in the G4 Mini. You need a IDA drive. It's the right size but wrong type of interface.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping for it to work, as my Mini would have a free 120GB HD. But no such luck. Guess i'll have to sell it. Thanks again...saved me the trouble of opening the Mini up, which is no small feat without breaking those little plastic clips!

How are you opening the Mini? I have opened a few and never had a broken clip.

Oh, I haven't broken any clips. It just takes me quite a while to open it, as i'm always worried i'm going to snap something. I kinda feel like you can only open it so many times before you break something.
