• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Is there something similar to iMeXoR or ImageGrab for Mac? I want an app that can extract pictures from video files, because I'm going to make a GIF from the episode. Can anyone suggest a good app? I don't mind whether it's freeware/shareware. Thanks.

Quicktime can export frames. Just hit File > Export and then select Movie to Image sequence. Make sure you put it in a separate folder cause there will be lots of images created depending on the number of frames in the video...
Oh and you'll need quicktime pro...

If you don't want to go for the expense of Quicktime Pro and you have imovie HD you can go under advanced when exporting your movie and choose "Image sequence" for the file type. It will give you JPGS of your movie in sequential order. You can also set it for .bmp files if you want as well. Also in iMovie you can hit shift command S and it will create a still frame JPG of the current frame you are on (in the clip area) and it will place it in the clip area too.

I have QuickTime Pro though, but thanks anyway. You taught me something. :0
