How do you organise your written notes?

Do you have a seperate notebooks for different subjects? What size notebooks do you use? Maby you use A4 paper and put them in a file and order them?

I handwrite my notes in class, since the desks are too small for my MBP, and then type them up later. I usually wait a few days to type them up, because reading and writing them twice separately really helps stick them into my long-term memory.

I just use MS word and add every week to one file for the same class. Then I have a folder for every class to keep my notes and other documents and coursework the prof may require. I organize it all through Entourage's Project Center. I basically make each class a "project" and can organize notes, files, email, contacts (profs, students, team members), tasks (assignments due and tests) and anything else I need to each class.

I think there are some programs out there specifically for taking notes for school, but I can't see how that would be beneficial to a good old word processor and some very easy personal organization.
