I have a Panasonic Mini DV camcorder model PV-DV203-K, and it is about 5 years old. When I connect my camcorder to my iMac and use iMovie, it tells me that there is nothing connected. When I switch the camcorder over to SD card mode it recognizes the camcorder then. Any help would be appreciated.

It appears that your camera is connected using the USB port. That is why the system saw the SD card. iMovie only works with cameras with firewire.
