Sony is far from the first company to do this... ruggedized laptops have been around for a long time. Still, not a bad feature to have.

I've seen a commercial for Toshiba Workbooks that are waterproof. It's been playing for a few months now. It's the first regular style laptop with this feature.
haha, the Toughbook commercial just started playing.

I don't think it is new, I believe the military already have them. It maybe new to the consumer thou.

Military has had Panasonic toughbooks forever. They are hardcore, you can through them on the ground, and use them in the rain, and they work really good. If only macs were this tough.....
