Basically no, that is a particularly annoying Windows "feature" that I'm glad to be without.

OS X is a drag and drop GUI, having the window full screen defeats the entire purpose of the interface.

Amen, I understand where your coming from. Its just that sometimes full screen is required just about to fully see webpages and ill like to maximise the window if required. Otherwise I don't have it covering the whole screen normally.

Falooza - any idea what I'm doing wrong - here's what I get when I drag it to my Bookmarks bar:

Never mind - I got it - the picture is the result of a single window open and simply dragging it to the Bookmarks Bar

I ended up opening two windows - one displaying Bookmarks and one on the site above - then drag from one window to the Bookmarks Bar in the other window.

If you need a full screen then that is what the maximise will give you, assuming of course that the web page is coded correctly (Safari needs to know what size the page is designed for).

Thanks technologist - I did think I had tried the + before with no result apart from it going into the Dock.

Im getting used to Safari now and don't really need it to go full screen.

So I can use several applications at once don't really want it full screen - guess it's just the getting used to using OSX over Windows XP.

Kinda wished now I kept my Indigo Blue G3 iMac as a toy hehe. But as it was getting no use I got rid of it - I had only bought it for $200 off ebay to see if I wanted to buy a new mac. Well I guess it worked! Loved it it was just a bit slow.

You can just manually drag Safari to take up all the screen. This is what I do. It's annoying for me to be surfing the web in a small tiny window when I have tons of screen real estate being unused.

Yeah Eric, I've been doing that as I need to - But thought there must be an easier way. Most of the time my standard Safari size is fine though.

Once I did it, it stayed that size. I never had to do it again. :)
