BootCamp Backlight on lid closed

Macbook(White), 2.16Ghz Core2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB 5400RPM Scorpio HD, Intel GMA 950
I just removed windows partition, Defragged from USB stick, re installed vista with bootcamp 1.4 beta. I want my macbook to stay on when I close the lid, however I want the backlight to turn off. I have it selected as "do nothing" in power options whe lid closes. When I close the lid, the machine stays on, but the backlight is also on. Is there a way to have the backlight turn off? Am I doing something wrong?
