Downloaded files vanish.

I'm trying to download some files from my e-mail account but when I download them and try to click on them they just vanish. What the ****'s that all about.

I'm trying to download a .doc but my office trial has just expired. I guess this shouldn't make a difference but that's the only thing I can think of.

Can anyone help me with another weird MAC thing?

what are you using to download? mail? safari? firefox?

do you have the files set to download to your desktop?

you can check or change this in safari's preferences - in the general tab. you could try just changing this to see if it fixes your issue.
