how do you format a hard drive on Mac?

I have an older G4 quicksilver and a new intel Imac 2.16.

when I put replacement hard drives in either(both brand new 320GB

one SATA one IDE hard drives)

and I start the machine i get a white-ish screen with a folder/face...

with windows it would find the HD and auto walk through a format install...

is this possible with Mac/OSX?

Thanks for not ripping on me or throwing rotten veggies...:-|

my local Mac store offered to help....for $70 a machine...............

Thanks,

Thad

Hey thad_w,

You'll want to explore Disk Utility. Check out this document. And for more help with this awesome tool, you can peruse Apple's own documentation, available at Help > Disk Utility Help.
