Problem with new downloaded / unpacked etc. items on desktop

2,33 Ghz , 2GB Ram , 120 GB HDD , X1600
Hello , all today i recognized that all app , mp3 , doc etc. files that i download to desktop disappear , after downloading , but after OS restart they are there , how can i fix that problem ?
