Hey guys....how does one switch between open windows of the same program (not tabs)? For example, Firefox. I have a window that must be stand-alone, not in a tab, and I need to switch quickly between it and another...is there a way?

is that a firefox specific command?

because that works for every app i use that has more than one window at a time.

maybe chalk it up to yet another firefox (for OS X) quirk...

no this is default for OSX

command+TAB to swap between open apps
command+` to swap between an apps windows

it's right in the Mac-Forums Switchers FAQ and Information
(although at the time i was using the "apple key" terminology, not the prefered "command")

Expose has that feature. You can set a mouse press to display all the windows in your open application.

Shift + F4 also works (it changes windows universally). Even Command + Tile (~) should work (changes windows application wise)

Expose'

besides pressing f10, you can set up hot corners on your screen. To see all open windows on my machine, I flip my mouse cursor up to the top right corner of the screen to activate Expose'. You set this up in the Dashboard and Expose section of System Preferences.

good catch remain. ;)

separated by a common language.

i've always used the + so people know to press them together rather than in sequence.
